Arnold Borgerth. Born in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil in 1956, Arnold moved to Lisbon, Portugal in 1990, to London in 1994, and to Margate in 2023. Arnold creates images since he was 8 years old when his father gave him a small plastic medium format camera.
After short periods of involvement with a few different creative practices as a musician, graphic designer, and political cartoonist, Arnold chose photography as his main means of expression. A self-taught photographer, Arnold works simultaneously in three different areas within the photographic field: as an artist working with traditional analogue as well as the latest digital technologies, Arnold’s work investigates the universal dimensions hidden in the banality of our everyday lives.
His work has been shown at various art festivals, group and solo shows in Brazil, Argentina, Netherlands, Korea, and in the UK in education, as a lecturer at Goldsmiths’ College - University of London from 1997 to the present, having also taught at various high education institutions across South America and Europe and as a freelance (Fine Arts, Design, Music, Editorials).
