Proud 2 Create

Sandra Art4All – celebrating a decade of creativity

12 – 29 August 2026

Proud 2 Create was the flagship summer exhibition of Sandra Art4All, a Margate studio marking ten years of making art accessible to Disabled Artists with additional impairments and learning needs. Filling the Mast gallery with bold, vibrant and joyful work, the show brought together the largest collection the studio has ever presented, celebrating the journeys, diverse abilities and inspiring practices of its artists.

Over the past decade, Sandra Art4All has been a supportive space where artistic expression knows no bounds. Proud 2 Create was the second of two summer exhibitions in 2026, following an open studio show at the Pie Factory Gallery in July, and it opened with a launch evening at Mast where visitors could meet the artists, view their latest work and raise a glass to ten years of creativity, community and care.

Colour sits at the heart of the studio's practice, and of the exhibition. Founder Sandra Hayden says: "Colour plays a vital role in our wellbeing journey in the studio. This transcends into our exhibitions and, as David Hockney once said, 'I prefer living in colour'. I too prefer to be surrounded by colour. This is something I can relate to, and it is clearly seen in the vibrant, bold and beautiful work that I am proud to share with the community."

The intentional use of vibrant palettes throughout the show is designed to affect emotion positively. Bright tones inspire energy and joy, while cooler shades promote relaxation and clarity. "Stepping into a gallery that is full of colour like ours, and walking around the exhibition space, provides a gentle, mindful physical activity that can lower stress, encourage presence and boost a person's day," says Hayden. "The simple act of viewing art allows people to slow down, reflect and find a sense of calm away from the busyness of daily life."

At its core, Proud 2 Create is about community wellbeing. Art is a universal language that builds deep social connection, combats isolation and creates inclusive spaces. Sandra Art4All has spent ten years proving that creativity heals and unites, helping to build a stronger, healthier and more empathetic local community.
